Why does hyperion revive you

MechMK1 The thing is, the respawn station is an actual object in the game that explicitly talks about how it is reconstructing you after you die. So although you're right that respawn mechanics typically aren't canon, Borderlands gameplay heavily implies the opposite though apparently the writers say this is more a failing on their part than actual canon.

I can't think of any right now, but it's been a while since I played Borderlands. MechMK1 That's beside my point. The New-U station interacts with you the same way as everything else in the game that is canon, without any clear way to tell that it is not actually part of the canon.

Even the writers seem to agree they made it appear canon when it was not. JMac Under the assumption that New-U stations are not canon, then Roland's death makes complete sense.

Under the assumption that New-U stations are canon, many questions open up, such as why the Vault hunters would even bother trying to kill Handsome Jack, if he could respawn anyways. Actually, why anyone would attempt to kill anyone would be in question, since they could just respawn. The assumption that respawning is outside of canon is the one that would impact the world the least and would make most sense, given how people act e. Show 2 more comments. I have a theory, but it partially involves spoilers, so Hence why the residents of Overlook needed medicine: The New-U wouldn't resurrect them from death by skull shivers. This also explains why bandits and various enemies keep respawning: The New-U eventually resurrects them, but due to their lesser bank accounts, they're much lower in the resurrection queue, so it takes quite a while.

Now, to your question: What does Hyperion gain by resurrecting everyone? They resurrect the bandits on Pandora to eternally cause turmoil and chaos, thus justifying their drastic measures and total control of the planet to the surrounding systems.

So many bandits in debt to them also means Hyperion can use them as assassins against any competition who may try to challenge them on Pandora for the Eridium mines. Angel hacked it so you're top of the queue, but can't override the basic hardware: For example, with the door at the beginning of the game, it's designed to open.

So she makes it open. With the flamethrowers later on, they're designed to clear ice from the door, so she makes them do that.

The New-U station is designed to resurrect you for a price, so she makes it do that. She just makes it so you're at the top of the list. Because it DID work for Roland. It still works for the original Vault Hunters, but Roland works behind the scenes from that point on so Jack can't stop him.

He exercises stealth and discretion, and raids the Hyperion New-U database behind the scenes, so by the time you face Handsome Jack, Roland's ripping Jack from the queue entirely, so he can't resurrect. He doesn't appear after that point because the game ends. One helluva a wall of text, huh? User Info: Shinota. Non-player characters Enemies Bosses. Borderlands 3. Explore Wikis Community Central.
